African Charter on Statistics
The production of statistics on our continent faces recurrent problems. In 2006, African Ministers of Economy and Finance, gathered in Yaoundé, Cameroon, recommended that the African Union consider lasting solutions to address these problems. January 2007 Decision No.EX.CL/Dec.330 (X) of the Executive Council of the African Union requested the African Union Commission to elaborate a new, efficient, regulatory framework for the development of statistics on the continent. The African Charter on Statistics was drafted by the entire African Statistical System and development partners.
