Regular Courses

The EASTC offers two regular courses in Statistics at sub professional levels.

The Certificate course takes ten (10) months and Diploma course takes an additional ten (10) months after the Certificate.This make the Diploma course to be a two years program. Each ten months are divided into two semesters of sixteen weeks each and four weeks of fieldwork. The Certificate level graduates may get exemption for Higher Certificate in Statistics (formally Stage I) of the Institute of Statisticians (UK), currently the Royal Statistical Society, (UK). The Diploma level graduates may get exemption from the two Statistical Theory and Methods papers of the Graduate diploma (formerly stages II & III). EASTC Diploma graduates with good Examination performance can be admitted at the University of Dar es Salaam to pursue a B.A. degree programme. They may also join Makerere University's Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics to pursue either a B.Stat., or B.Sc (Stat & Econ) degree programmes. Moreover a number of U.K. universities are admitting the EASTC Diploma graduates into their Post Graduate Certificate and diploma courses in Statistics, who may then proceed to undertake Master's courses.
