MSC. AS intends to produce competent, responsible and innovative strategic agricultural statistical professionals and managers who will work at senior levels as agricultural statisticians, managers, and administrators of Agricultural Statistical Systems, sub-systems, schemes and programmes designed to respond to the statistical demands of African nations in the sub-region of SADC and other nations as well.

Duration and credits: 24 months, coursework with 193 credits out of 120 minimum credits and 60 credits for dissertation.

NB: Maximum registration period for master’s programmes as per section 4.2.11 in table 2 of the EASTC Examinations Regulations of 2021 is four years. Failure to complete studies within four years will lead to discontinuation from studies.

Mode of delivery: MSc. AS is jointly offered by the Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre and Sokoine University of Agriculture.

Self-employment, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Different Ministries including Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Livestock, Fishery etc., United Nations, Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), Universities e.g., Eastern Africa Statistical Training Centre (EASTC), Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA), Agricultural Research Institutions, Private sectors related to agrarian economy, Financial Institutions e.g., Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB), CRDB, NMB etc.

A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Official Statistics, Agricultural Statistic and Economics, Agribusiness, Economics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Finance, Accounts, Commerce, IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Agriculture or other Science and Business-related fields that have a strong background in mathematics from a recognized higher learning institution with a minimum GPA of 2.7
