are Objectives of the Programme?
The
objective behind this programme is geared towards producing highly committed
and responsible personnel who are capable of supervising data collection
process and process data. At the end of the programme graduates are expected to
demonstrate ability to apply knowledge and skills in:

statistical skills in supervising data collection exercises;

statistical skills in undertaking field logistics;

statistical packages in preliminary data analysis;

business communication skills related to advocate for the importance of
Statistics.
Where
will Graduates of Diploma in Statistics Work?
Graduates
of Diploma in Statistics are qualified to work as Supervisors of data
collection exercises that are organized by either Government or Private Sector.
Specifically, graduates of this programme are prepared to assist research work
under minimum experts` supervision by performing data collection supervision
and preliminary data analysis activities during a Census Survey or a Sample
Survey. Different surveys are normally conducted by both central government
(MDAs) and local governments’ bodies. Moreover, survey activities are conducted
by private institutions and international organizations such as USAID, UNICEF,
etc.
Advanced Level
Certificate in Secondary Education (ACSEE) with a minimum of E and S in
Advanced Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Accounts,
Economics, Commerce, Agriculture or its equivalent as established by NACTE
based on Tanzanian education system. If one of the passes is not in Advanced
Mathematics or Subsidiary in BAM, a pass in O’ Level Basic Mathematics is
required.
OR
Certificate (NTA 4) in
Statistics, Business Administration, Accounting, Computer Science, ICT, or its
equivalent as established by NACTE or NECTA based on Tanzania’s
education system.
